ABOUT 'HIPAA LAWS' and THE LIMITS OF TECH:

        Due to Federal medical privacy laws, our obnoxious but

required email screening program sometimes rejects 'suspicious' emails

(both received and sent). Therefore sometimes we really do NOT

RECEIVE emails, or emails we send are not received, despite our best

efforts. IF YOU DO NOT receive a response to your email within 3

DAYS, please assume we DID NOT RECEIVE IT, not that we don't care

about you! PLEASE call the office (808-965-2233)and ALSO leave a voice

mail about any important issues. Please DO NOT assume an email took

care of it. It is fine to send a followup email to make sure we did

receive your email, there is never a charge to clarify this due to

this irritating fact of business life in Pahoa.

ABOUT EMAIL 'MEDICINE' :

          Dr. Boyd Daughtrey offers limited support for established

patients to clarify treatment plans via email for a modest service

fee. MOST medical issues cannot be diagnosed or cared for

appropriately via email, so if this is the case Dr. Daughtrey will

respond with a request for a phone or in person consultation. Email is

great for some things, but email medicine is frequently frustrating

for both parties, as essential information is always left out.

(Diagnosis via email is just a bad idea. )

EMAIL CONSULTATION FEES:

Email fees range from $10 to $55 per email transaction based upon the

complexity of the issue. This will be charged to your account at the

time of service. Insurance does not pay for email consultations. If

you are concerned about the specific fee amount, simply ask in the

first line of the email how much the response will be, and you may

choose to engage in the consultation or not after that cost estimate

is delivered.

‘24 HOUR RULE’

Dr. Daughtrey is happy hear from you, and happy to respond to emails

for the specific purpose of clarifying treatment plan directions or

locating a product or service suggested on a plan, (not for diagnosing

a problem), at no charge, within the first 24 hours after an in person

or phone visit. We hope this will encourage you to check those

treatment plans when you get home! IF you are having a non emergency

problem call the office and schedule a phone or in person visit of any

length. 808-965-2233 (Note: If Dr Sally or the office staff

specifically asks you to email about a issue, and if she says

there is no charge, then there will be no charge for this email.)

RESPONSE TIME FOR EMAIL:

Dr. Daughtrey will respond to your email by the next office day, on

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday unless there is an emergency of some

. (See TECH info above though.) Please call 911 or visit Urgent

Care if you have a medical emergency, we specificdo not have after hours

coverage at our small clinic.
